Safety Needles

SAN®-DV Pro

Integrated Vial Drug Transfer Device & Automatic Safety Needle

SAN®-L is an automatic, single-use safety needle for subcutaneous or intramuscular drug administration, designed for confident and safe self-injection. Featuring a small form factor, it attaches to any Luer-lock syringe, adding automatic needle insertion and a passive safety shielding mechanism, with no changes to the syringe itself.

The SAN®-L equips a Luer-lock syringe with these unique features, enabling the user to control injection speed manually by pressing the plunger rod. The SAN®-L also keeps the needle hidden throughout the whole injection process. By that, the SAN®-L helps in reducing needle anxiety and lowering perceived pain.

Before / After

SAN-DV Pro enables drug reconstitution and administration in a single, continuous guided process.

Key Features & Benefits

For Patients, Caregivers & Healthcare Professionals

Streamlines Vial-Based Protocol Reduces complex preparation workflows to simple “attach and transfer” steps. Eliminating manual component swaps reduces the required technical skill, making the device a perfect fit for both clinical use and home administration.

Automatic Needle Insertion Pressing the device against the skin triggers automatic needle insertion to the correct depth. An audible click confirms successful insertion, reducing technical errors and increasing user independence.

Safer Drug Preparation The integrated vial adaptor features a closed fluid pathway that securely penetrates the vial stopper without needles (via a plastic spike). This enables safe diluent transfer, reconstitution, and dose withdrawal while eliminating sharps exposure entirely.

Mitigates Contamination Risks The SAN-DV Pro replaces exposed needle transfers with a closed fluid pathway, significantly reducing the risk of contamination during complex preparation. This is critical, as manual, multi-step reconstitution in an open environment remains a primary source of microbial contamination.

Patient-Controlled Injection Speed Drug delivery remains manual through the syringe plunger. This keeps the user in control of the injection speed, which can help reduce injection pain.

For Pharmaceutical Companies

Simplifies the drug preparation and administration Replaces a multi-component procedure (separate adaptor, draw-up/injection needles, safety add-on device) with a single integrated system, streamlining packaging, preparation and handling.

Supports Better Acceptance and Adherence By simplifying the workflow and reducing exposure to needles, SAN‑DV helps make vial‑based injections feel less intimidating, supporting better treatment acceptance and adherence, especially in home‑care and self‑administration settings.

Broad Formulation Compatibility The integrated vial adaptor supports the complete preparation workflow for a wide range of vial-based therapies, seamlessly handling both lyophilized (powder) and liquid drug presentations without requiring additional components.

How to Use

Key steps highlight - please refer to specific instructions for use.
01
Attach
Connect the drug vial to Port 1 and a standard Luer-lock syringe to Port 2.
02
Prepare
Transfer the diluent, reconstitute, and mix directly in the vial, then withdraw the required dose into the syringe.
03
Connect Needle
Rotate the syringe 90° within the SAN®-DV Pro to connect the built-in automatic safety needle.
04
Extract & Inject
Pull the syringe out, push against the skin for automatic needle insertion, and press the plunger to inject.
05
Remove & Discard
Withdraw the device from the skin. The safety shield locks automatically. Discard it in a sharps container.

Wide Range of Use Cases

Optimized for the standard vial and prefilled syringe combination, the SAN®-DV Pro’s integrated design supports multiple configurations. This enables pharmaceutical companies to standardize one device across diverse workflows:

  • Reconstituting powder in a vial with a diluent in a prefilled syringe.
  • Withdrawal of liquid drug from a vial into a syringe.
  • Mixing diluent from one vial and powder from another vial into a syringe.
  • Mixing liquid from one vial and liquid from another vial into a syringe.
